Bangkok: The Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) has embarked on an initiative to enhance the quality and understanding of political parties within the country. As part of this effort, the ECT has launched the "Training Course for Trainers of Quality Political Parties, Batch 2," aimed at fostering accurate knowledge and understanding that can be disseminated to improve political engagement and practices.
According to Thai News Agency, the Secretary-General of the Election Commission, Mr. Saeng Boonmee, inaugurated this training course, which is designed to enhance the knowledge of heads of investigation and political party divisions, as well as ECT staff and political party representatives. The initiative reflects a strategic move to ensure that those involved in politics are well-versed in best practices, thereby promoting a healthier political climate in Thailand.
Mr. Saeng emphasized that democracy is a deeply ingrained practice that evolves over time and is integral to people's lives. He highlighted the pivotal role of political parties in political systems globally, noting that they consist of citizens who voluntarily engage in politics and public service. He underscored that the project serves as an educational tool for democracy, aligning with the national strategy and agenda. Mr. Saeng also declared that Thailand boasts the most transparent elections in the world, with no significant concerns raised about the electoral system itself. He pointed out, however, that public scrutiny tends to focus on the performance of the voters and election managers rather than the system.
