Pol. Gen. Charntep Sesavej Announced as Bangkok Governor Candidate by Economic Party

Bangkok: The Economic Party has officially announced Pol. Gen. Charntep Sesavej as its candidate for the Bangkok Governor position, alongside a team of 49+1 candidates for the Bangkok City Council. The party is introducing innovative policies aimed at addressing major urban issues, including traffic congestion, flooding, corruption, and promoting street food as an income source for residents.

According to Thai News Agency, the announcement took place beneath the Makkasan Airport Rail Link station, where Pol. Gen. Charntep, a former Bangkok Metropolitan Police Commissioner, was introduced as the party's gubernatorial candidate. The event also saw the unveiling of the complete team of candidates for the Bangkok Metropolitan Council, marking the party's commitment to providing a fresh alternative for Bangkok's governance in the upcoming election.

The Economic Party has outlined several key policies under Pol. Gen. Charntep's leadership, focusing on urban development and quality of life improvements. These include leveraging AI technology to manage traffic lights across Bangkok, installing CCTV cameras citywide, and implementing enhanced drainage systems to combat flooding. Additionally, the party promises to address waste management using innovative plasma technology and tackle corruption in procurement processes.

General Rangsi Kitiyanasap, the leader of the Economic Party, highlighted the significance of these policies, emphasizing their potential to resolve chronic issues in Bangkok. He asserted that the party's approach could bring tangible changes, contrasting with the current administration's handling of problems like security and flooding.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Charntep himself has emphasized his dedication to improving safety and crime prevention in the city. He has proposed integrating efforts with the police to address rising crime rates and improve traffic management. Furthermore, he aims to abolish waste collection fees for the general public and enhance public health facilities in Bangkok Metropolitan Administration hospitals.

In addition to these initiatives, Pol. Gen. Charntep has expressed a commitment to transparency and collaboration with relevant agencies to prevent and address accidents and other serious incidents in Bangkok. He has also indicated that the '+1' candidate, although independent, shares a collaborative relationship with the Economic Party.
