Bangkok: "Varawut" explains that "Xin Ke Yuan" has commenced operations after making the necessary amendments according to regulations.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Industry, addressed the issue of the Department of Industrial Works granting permission to Xin Ke Yuan Steel Co., Ltd. to resume steel rebar production. The announcement was made at Military Airport 2, Wing 6 (Don Mueang), where Mr. Varawut explained that the reopening was conducted under the Factory Act of 1992. The factory had been closed the previous year, but amendments to the regulations have now allowed it to resume operations.
Despite the completion of the necessary procedures for reopening, there remain questions among the public and various parties, including 10 steel trade associations, regarding the process. To address these concerns, Mr. Varawut has instructed the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry to provide further clarification, especially concerning the safety of the public using steel products, irrespective of the technology used.
Mr. Varawut emphasized that he has directed the ministry to expedite the implementation of measures related to the use of steel from different production processes to build public confidence. He also mentioned that he would follow up with the ministry upon his return from Vietnam to assess the progress of these measures.
