Nonthaburi: The family held a ceremony to invite the spirit of the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization Chairman back home. Meanwhile, the Minister of Justice confirmed that Chalong Riengrang, former Nonthaburi MP, is being treated like any other prisoner and will not receive any special privileges.
According to Thai News Agency, the family of Pol. Col. Thongchai Yenprasert, the President of the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization, invited a monk from Wat Saphan Sung to perform a ritual to summon his spirit at the parking lot of the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization office. This location marks the scene where he was fatally shot by Chalong Riangrang, a former Nonthaburi MP.
Relatives brought flowers, incense, candles, robes, sacred threads, and the deceased's clothing to the ceremony. Silver coins were placed in a tray, and a number of pieces of soil from the accident site were dug up and placed in a tray as part of the ritual according to local beliefs. The atmosphere was filled with sadness, with relatives, close friends, and acquaintances present to pay their respects.
The family also brought the black luxury car that Pol. Col. Thongchai was in when he died to the scene of the accident. They opened the front passenger window halfway and left the driver's side door slightly ajar to recreate the incident, as the driver, injured after the accident, opened the door and fled for his life. After the ceremony, the family scattered flowers and coins along the way from the accident site to Wat Saphan Sung.
