Thai House to Support Athletes at Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games

Dakar:The Sports Authority of Thailand is preparing to establish a Thai House in Senegal for the Youth Olympic Games, Dakar 2026.

According to Thai News Agency, the Thai national youth team, consisting of 28 athletes, is ready to participate in the games. The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) will not only set up a Thai House but also deploy a sports science team to provide close support and monitoring for the athletes.

The Youth Olympic Games torch relay is currently making its way through Senegal's cities, drawing large crowds and featuring vibrant traditional performances. The torch will visit all 14 regions of Senegal under the theme "Pass the Energy," before arriving in Dakar for the opening ceremony on October 31st. The games will run from October 31st to November 13th, with 2,700 young athletes from around the world competing for 153 gold medals in 25 different sports.

The Thai national youth athletes who have qualified will compete in 11 sports, including athletics, badminton, beach handball, beach volleyball, boxing, judo, rowing, cycling, windsurfing, aquatics, and table tennis.

Ms. Prodpran Samanmit, Governor of the SAT, highlighted that the athletes have been in training since August and have received excellent support from the SAT. She encouraged the athletes to perform at their best, emphasizing the comprehensive support that will be available through the Thai House and the sports science team during the competition.
