EY Seminar Highlights Five Key Corporate Governance Issues for a Changing Business World

Bangkok:EY recently hosted its 'Audit Committee Seminar 2026,' focusing on five crucial corporate governance issues that audit committees need to address in a business landscape that is described as 'not being the same as before.'

According to Thai News Agency, the seminar, themed 'Beyond what used to be! Things will never be the same,' saw experts from EY Thailand identifying five key governance dimensions in this era of unprecedented change. These dimensions include trust, financial transparency, technological advancements, evolving global perspectives, and strategic questioning at the board level.

The first dimension, trust, emphasizes the need for organizations to continuously evaluate their governance and internal audit systems to build stakeholder confidence and comply with stringent regulatory demands. The second dimension, financial transparency, involves scrutinizing financial statements and auditor's reports to identify risk issues that require attention for improved reporting quality.

The seminar also highlighted the third dimension, technology, discussing AI's dual role in creating business opportunities and introducing new risks. Organizations must strengthen their technology governance to handle these challenges and leverage AI for effective internal audits. The fourth dimension, the changing world, focuses on macroeconomic and geopolitical factors that necessitate strategic resilience to navigate industry-wide impacts.

Finally, the seminar addressed the importance of asking pivotal questions at the board level to assess organizational readiness and risk management. EY underlined that audit committees should expand their role beyond financial oversight to include comprehensive risk governance and technology readiness to foster long-term stakeholder confidence and sustainable growth. This seminar underscores EY's dedication to equipping leaders to tackle emerging challenges in a business environment that will "never be the same."
