Songkhla:Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Pipat Ratchakitprakarn clarified that his recent meeting with Newin Chidchob, the president of Buriram United Football Club, was purely social and did not involve any political discussions.
According to Thai News Agency, Pipat, a prominent member of the Bhumjaithai Party, stated that he met Newin in Songkhla to watch a Thai League football match against Pattani, whose stadium was under renovation, necessitating the use of a venue in Songkhla. Pipat emphasized that their interaction was limited to the sporting event and did not touch on political matters.
When queried about the potential merger of the Kla Tham Party with the government, Pipat deflected, suggesting that any decisions would be made by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul. He also addressed rumors about a merger with the Bhumjaithai Party, stating that such discussions would be the responsibility of senior party leaders.
Pipat commented on the strength of the government, describing it as robust since its inception under Anutin's leadership. He noted that the Ministry of Transport, among others, has begun to stabilize and effectively implement policies. Pipat argued against a cabinet reshuffle, citing the short period the government has been in power and stressing the importance of communication between ministers and civil servants to ensure efficient governance. Ultimately, he noted that any decisions regarding changes in the cabinet would depend on the Prime Minister and the executive committee of the Bhumjaithai Party.
