Bangkok:Pharadon Prisnanantakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, affirmed the government's adherence to the 3 + 1 principle regarding the upcoming no-confidence debate, highlighting the Prime Minister's busy schedule.
According to Thai News Agency, Pharadon explained the necessity of the proposed three-day no-confidence debate, scheduled for October 27th to 29th, with the vote set for October 30th. A special cabinet meeting is planned for October 26th, and post-vote, the Prime Minister has overseas commitments from October 30th to November 1st, followed by the World Horticultural Expo in Udon Thani on November 2nd, involving the entire cabinet.
Pharadon stressed that postponing the debate to the end of November is impractical. He noted that the three-day schedule is due to the Prime Minister's engagements and not a reluctance to face scrutiny. A meeting with party whips is set for this afternoon to discuss the debate's scheduling.
When questioned about the opposition's preference for a five-day debate, Pharadon remarked on the impracticality of extending the debate to five days, as it is unprecedented and would be too lengthy. He emphasized focusing on the debate's substance and timeframe while considering traditional speaking hours for both sides.
Pharadon reiterated that the initial plan for the debate remains October 27-29, with a vote on October 30. This schedule will be presented to Parliament for further discussion, following a cabinet meeting to confirm available time slots.
