Bangkok:Nattapong Ruangpanyawut, a list MP and leader of the People's Party, has expressed his willingness to be flexible regarding the timing of the upcoming no-confidence debate, provided that the government ensures an appropriate allocation of time for opposition voices.
According to Thai News Agency, Nattapong emphasized that the opposition is prepared to adjust its schedule to accommodate a possible postponement of the debate to early November. However, he insisted that the government must allocate time in a manner that allows for thorough questioning and responses, rather than leaving insufficient time for answers. He remains confident that internal party issues will not impede the debate proceedings.
Nattapong addressed the discussions among the opposition, government, and cabinet representatives, who have yet to reach an agreement on the debate's timing. He highlighted that the key issue is time allocation, stressing the importance of scrutinizing the government's performance. He called for a more equitable distribution of debate days, given the larger number of ministers involved compared to previous debates.
He also acknowledged the cabinet's busy schedule but urged that time be managed effectively to avoid conflicts with other important agenda items, such as the 2028 national budget discussions. Nattapong reiterated his stance against making the number of debate days a contentious issue and emphasized the need for comprehensive government responses during the debate.
