NSTDA Launches New Curriculum Pilot in 10 Provinces

Bangkok: The National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) is set to initiate a pilot project introducing a new curriculum aimed at enhancing learning across 10 provinces starting in the first semester of the 2025 academic year.

According to Thai News Agency, the Office of the Higher Education Commission has announced this initiative to implement a new educational framework. This curriculum is designed to cater to those who are of school-going age but are unable to access education through traditional institutions, as well as individuals who have surpassed the typical age for formal education or reside in remote areas lacking educational facilities.

Mr. Thanakorn Donnua, Director-General of the Department of Non-Formal Education, has indicated that this curriculum aims to facilitate learning for basic education qualifications. The Department of Non-Formal Education (DNF) has formalized this curriculum under the announcement for B.E. 2567, ensuring it provides education to underserved demographics. This includes promoting further education beyond basic levels, in alignment with the Promotion of Non-Formal Education Act B.E. 2566.

The curriculum will replace the existing Non-Formal Education Curriculum at the Basic Education Level, 2008. It will be piloted in Sukhothai, Lampang, Pathum Thani, Suphan Buri, Roi Et, Nong Khai, Chanthaburi, Chachoengsao, Chumphon, and Phuket. This new framework emphasizes developing learners into capable individuals equipped with the skills necessary for the 21st century through a competency-based approach.
