Chonburi: Provincial Police Region 2 Commander has commended the Chonburi police at Huai Yai Police Station for their prompt and effective action in arresting a Chinese gang involved in a shooting incident related to a drug case. The gang was apprehended for shooting and injuring individuals, and evidence was found linking them to drugs, e-cigarettes, and firearms.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Yingyos Thepjamnong, Commander of Provincial Police Region 2, applauded the efforts of Pol. Col. Atthaphon Itthayophasakun, Superintendent of Huai Yai Police Station, and his team for swiftly arresting the Chinese gang that caused injuries and fled the scene. The police discovered significant quantities of drugs, including 225.84 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 165.83 grams of ketamine, 711 methamphetamine pills, 1,572 electronic cigarette devices, and five firearms. The suspects, including seven Thai women, face various charges, including drug possession, attempted murder, and illegal entry.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Yingyot detailed that on May 31, 2025, Huai Yai Police Station received a report of a gunfight at a house in Soi Khao Makok, Village 4, Tambon Huai Yai, Amphoe Bang Lamung, Chonburi Province. Upon investigation, police found bloodstains and a 9 mm bullet casing, and Mr. Song Qiyang, a 26-year-old Chinese national, was discovered injured from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital for treatment. Witnesses and CCTV footage revealed that Mr. Song was driven to the house by a group of Chinese individuals, where an argument ensued with Mr. Wang Zhijie. Subsequently, Mr. Ju Bin shot Mr. Song. The perpetrators attempted to conceal the crime by cleaning the bloodstains and hiding drugs in a car before fleeing. However, the police quickly apprehended them approximately three kilometers from the scene.
The Huai Yai Police Station has charged the suspects and, following further investigation, arrested additional individuals linked to the incident. Although the injured party has yet to provide a statement, the shooter claimed it was an act of self-defense against a financial dispute. The police, however, suspect drug-related motives. The investigation continues, with the aim of upholding law and order and preventing foreign criminal activities in Thailand.
The police are pursuing several charges, including attempted murder, illegal possession of firearms, and possession of narcotics, among others. The Regional Police are encouraging public vigilance and reporting of any suspicious activities by foreigners or illegal acts to the nearest police station or the 24-hour hotline 191.
