Bangkok: Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, engaged in discussions with Mr. Abderrahim Rahhali, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Thailand, focusing on enhancing tourist safety and tackling online crime and human trafficking. The meeting took place at the Ministry of Interior’s Damrong Rajanubhab Room.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anutin highlighted the strong relationship between Thailand and Morocco, emphasizing their collaboration in economic, academic, and security sectors. Both nations are committed to combating online fraud and transnational crimes, issues that have victimized citizens from both countries. The Thai government is actively working to suppress these crimes, including cutting power to crime hotspots near the Thai-Myanmar border and suspending fuel exports and telecommunications to disrupt criminal networks.
Mr. Anutin emphasized the importance of cooperation to ensure the safety of citizens from both countries. He noted the need for stringent measures to prevent crimes and restore confidence among tourists. The Ministry of Interior plans to increase screening measures for travelers and set guidelines for extradition agreements to facilitate the prosecution of offenders.
Ambassador Rahhaly expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and confirmed Morocco’s readiness to cooperate in resolving security challenges, aiming to foster a secure environment and strengthen bilateral relations.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Chamnanwit Terat, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Ms. Ornuma Worasen, Director of the Foreign Affairs Division, and other related officials.
