Bangkok: The Prime Minister has deferred to the Finance Ministry to explain the distribution of 10,000 baht in digital money as part of Phase 3 of an economic stimulus program targeting 16-20 year olds. This decision follows criticism from opposition parties regarding insufficient funds for the initiative.
According to Thai News Agency, after leading a ministerial meeting, Prime Minister Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra declined to comment on the decision made by the Economic Stimulus Policy Committee. The committee had specified that teenagers aged 16-20 years would be recipients of the funds in the latest phase of the program. This announcement has sparked criticism from the opposition, which argues that the government lacks the necessary funds to fulfill the program’s promises.
When questioned by reporters, the Prime Minister responded, “Have you been interviewed by the Ministry of Finance yet?” before departing to Government House. Observers noted that the Prime Minister appeared to be limping, suggesting a possible foot injury.
