Bangkok: AOC 1441 is accelerating assistance to the public and supporting the government in cracking down on scammers, emphasizing the principle of "concealing names, focusing on behavior" with no exceptions.
According to Thai News Agency, the Online Crime Suppression Operations Center is stepping up efforts to assist citizens and support the government's crackdown on scammers. The initiative emphasizes the principle of "concealing names, focusing on behavior," ensuring that those involved in scams, online fraud networks, or groups causing harm to the public are investigated based on their actions, irrespective of their identity or connections.
Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, highlighted the government's commitment under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul to rigorously combat cybercrime. The key principle adhered to is the Prime Minister's approach of "anonymity, focus on behavior," targeting anyone associated with fraudulent activities without regard to their influence.
AOC 1441 serves as a critical mechanism in the fight against online scams, acting not only as a reporting channel but also as a rapid coordination center. It facilitates communication between citizens, police, financial institutions, regulatory agencies, and digital organizations to mitigate damage, freeze funds, and relay information to authorities for swift legal action.
Ms. Rachada reported that data from the AOC 1441 call center reveals a significant increase in incoming calls from February to May 2026, reflecting public reliance on this resource amidst online crime threats. The number of calls rose from 851,495, averaging 3,519 per day, to 966,125, averaging 3,992 per day. This trend underscores the importance of the center as a critical support system for victims.
In the realm of joint account suspensions, the collaboration between AOC 1441 and financial institutions has been pivotal. Calls related to joint account suspensions increased from 355,381 between February and September 2025 to 362,472 between October 2025 and May 2026. This reflects the center's crucial role in preemptively addressing potential damages.
Despite an increase in reports and collaborative efforts, the overall value of damages decreased by 15.38%, from 14,365.97 million baht to 12,155.87 million baht. This decline signifies that quicker access to assistance for the public leads to more effective damage prevention. Additionally, the government continues its efforts to shut down illegal channels and online gambling websites, with a marked increase in closures from 2023 to 2026.
Ms. Rachada emphasized the government's comprehensive approach to tackling cybercrime, focusing on disrupting fraudulent systems and networks. The government is committed to intensifying its efforts to stay ahead of technological advancements utilized by criminals, ensuring faster reporting, account freezing, financial trail tracing, and case prosecution.
The government urges the public to contact the AOC hotline 1441 immediately if they fall victim to online crime. Swift reporting is crucial for intercepting money trails, minimizing damage, and enhancing the likelihood of bringing perpetrators to justice.
