Baan Suan School’s New Rule Sparks Viral Sensation on Social Media

Chonburi: Baan Suan School in Chonburi province has become a topic of widespread discussion with its implementation of a new rule for the upcoming school term prohibiting the use of skin-whitening masks. The regulation states that if students wish to use such products, they must ensure their application is smooth.

According to Thai News Agency, the school has also issued guidelines covering various aspects of student appearance, including proper school uniforms, PE attire, footwear, and hairstyles for both male and female students at lower and upper secondary levels. However, it is the new rule regarding makeup that has captured the public's attention, particularly the school's humorous online post featuring the caption: "That thing on the chair isn't mine, Mom!" alongside a note encouraging students to appreciate their natural skin tone.

The trend of skin-whitening remains prevalent, with many seeking a radiant complexion. This pursuit has led to popular phrases such as "skin whitening like you've drowned" and references to "Manita's skin whitening" from the viral show The Take Hormones Season 2. These catchphrases have gained traction on platforms like TikTok, where both netizens and actors have popularized them through playful videos.

Conversely, there is a growing movement against the application of thick layers of cream, as these can leave stains on vehicles, frustrating delivery riders. A notable incident involved a hair salon searching for a customer whose cream application left noticeable stains, prompting the staff to clean them.

Despite these concerns, the skin-whitening trend persists, driven by the perception that fair skin is synonymous with beauty and sophistication. However, users are advised to apply such creams correctly to avoid potential allergic reactions, ensuring suitability for both the body and face.
