Bangkok: The Deputy Minister of Interior has announced that the results of the local government official investigation will be disclosed tonight. He confirmed that any officials found to be acting irregularly will be dismissed, and their positions will be filled by the next eligible candidates without requiring them to retake the exam.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Worasit Liengprasit, Deputy Minister of Interior, provided an update today at the Parliament building on the progress of the ongoing investigation into serious disciplinary violations concerning corruption in the local government civil service examination. Mr. Worasit explained that the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior is responsible for conducting this standard investigation process, which stems from the findings of a disciplinary committee. The decision to pursue criminal charges will depend on the investigation's conclusions.
Mr. Worasit stated that the verification process of matching the announced results against the answer sheets of 15,000 newly appointed candidates is expected to be completed by this evening. Should discrepancies arise, a further investigation will be necessary. Once conclusive information is available, the matter will be referred to the Central Committee of Local Government Employees, which holds the authority to cancel the list. He assured that while the timeframe will be reviewed, efforts will be made to expedite the process.
In response to queries on whether successful exam candidates would replace those with irregular scores, Mr. Worasit indicated that the final exam results must be awaited. He clarified that candidates who succeeded based on merit would keep their positions, while those with irregular scores would face subsequent procedures, with top-ranked candidates stepping in for those removed.
Addressing questions on restoring confidence in the Ministry of Interior, Mr. Worasit expressed confidence in the efforts being made. He emphasized that all involved are working diligently and sincerely to resolve the issue, with information being coordinated and verified with other agencies to facilitate the next steps.
