Bangkok: "Pakorn" is confident that he acted correctly in issuing the emergency decree to borrow 400 billion baht, while awaiting the Constitutional Court's ruling on July 9. Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilapraphan expressed his conviction that the government has not violated any fiscal discipline by enacting this decree.
According to Thai News Agency, when asked whether the government had prepared a contingency plan for the Constitutional Court's ruling, Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilapraphan stated that there was none. He firmly believes that the actions taken were appropriate and that there was no wrongdoing involved. He assured that both he and the Prime Minister stand by the decree as a necessary measure.
Further pressed on potential repercussions should the ruling be unfavorable, Mr. Pakorn admitted uncertainty about future steps but emphasized that they had done their best. He reiterated the Prime Minister's confidence in their actions, indicating that there is nothing to fear from the upcoming judgment.
Regarding his presence at the Constitutional Court's ruling, Mr. Pakorn mentioned that the Prime Minister has not yet tasked him with attending the session. This leaves his participation in the court proceedings undecided as they await the crucial verdict.
