Bangkok: The Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) is set to celebrate its 28th anniversary with a series of activities that include the launch of a new logo and slogan, "Stepping into the 28th Year of the ECT Office." The celebration will feature a press conference to highlight the achievements of the commission.
According to Thai News Agency, the event will commence with a ceremony to commemorate the anniversary, presided over by Mr. Narong Klanwarin, Chairman of the Election Commission, alongside other commissioners. The day will begin with a homage-paying ceremony at the Brahma Shrine in the Government Complex at 8:00 AM, followed by a Buddhist ceremony at the Election Commission office. During these events, Mr. Saweang Boonmee, Secretary-General of the Election Commission, will present a summary of the commission's accomplishments, focusing on the theme of "Integrity, Transparency, Impartiality, and Fairness."
In preparation for the anniversary, the ECT office has updated the backdrop on the second floor in front of the office entrance. The new design includes a gradient of green and blue with the office's emblem, set above a base resembling a government building. The message for this year, "Neutral, Transparent, Fair and Inclusive Elections," is displayed in green and gold lettering with Arabic numerals.
The Election Commission has also revised its slogan to "Honest, Transparent, Neutral, and Fair," updating it from the former "Honest, Fair, and Lawful." This change reflects a renewed commitment to these values as the commission continues its work. Last year, the slogan was "Uniting Thai Citizens to Create Sustainable Democracy," symbolized by brown twisted ropes forming numbers and letters to represent the unity of Thai citizens.
The ECT faces ongoing social pressure to expedite investigations into alleged collusion in the Senate elections and address complaints involving major political parties and their leaders. These concerns are particularly relevant as the country looks forward to the general election scheduled for early 2026.
