Map ta phut: PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited (GC) is taking significant steps to transform Map Ta Phut into a high-value, low-carbon regional business hub by expanding its partnerships with leading Japanese companies, Toray Industries, Inc. and Mitsubishi Corporation. This strategic collaboration aims to accelerate the development of Green and Bio businesses, supporting a long-term transition towards more sustainable business practices.
According to Thai News Agency, GC's CEO, Mr. Narongsak Chiwakanan, highlighted the joint efforts with Toray Industries to utilize agricultural waste from Thailand for producing 100% biodegradable nylon 6,6. This innovative approach employs a bio-fermentation process to convert sugars from waste into high-value biochemicals, achieving a world-first production in a 50,000-liter fermentation tank. The collaboration focuses on scaling up technology, production processes, and supply chains, with plans to commence pilot-scale production of biomuconic acid and bio-adipic acid by 2028, ultimately leading to the development of bio-based nylon 6,6 fibers.
In addition, the collaboration with Mitsubishi Corporation seeks to explore business opportunities for bio-based products from GC's bioenergy plant. By leveraging Mitsubishi's global market connections, this partnership aims to apply bio-based solutions across various industries, aiding customers in reaching their sustainability objectives.
Mr. Narongsak emphasized that these partnerships aim to create a new ecosystem, focusing on developing market-driven solutions that can further elevate Map Ta Phut.
