GHB Allocates 5 Billion Baht to Aid Self-Employed in Homeownership

Bangkok: GHB (Government Housing Bank) is preparing 5 billion baht in funds to help people realize their dream home with the S-em home loan. The Government Housing Bank (GHB) is allocating 5 billion baht to facilitate homeownership for self-employed individuals through its S-em (Self-employee) home loan program for 2026, with monthly payments starting at 4,200 baht per million baht borrowed.

According to Thai News Agency, the GHB initiative aims to support self-employed individuals or small business owners, such as traders, taxi drivers, freelancers, or general contractors. This program is designed for those who currently lack a history of repaying housing loans with GHB, enabling them to own homes through the "S-em (Self Employee) Home Loan Project 2026." The loan can be utilized for purchasing, building, refinancing mortgages from other financial institutions, or repaying debts while refinancing a mortgage.

The maximum loan amount available is 3 million baht per borrower per collateral, with an interest rate of 3.75% per year for the initial 1-2 years, MRR-2.00% per year for years 3-5, and MRR-0.75% per year from year 6 until the end of the loan term. Installment payments start at 4,200 baht per million baht borrowed. The program offers a special incentive of a free collateral appraisal fee, valued between 1,900-2,800 baht.

The S-em home loan program underscores GH Bank's commitment as a trusted partner in homeownership, extending support from the first day of ownership. Interested applicants can apply for the loan immediately, with the completion of approval and legal procedures by January 29, 2027.
