Nine Thai Golfers Compete in Chevron Championship in Houston

Houston: Cheer on the nine Thai women as they aim for the first major championship of the year, the Chevron Championship. According to Thai News Agency, the LPGA Tour's Chevron Championship, the first major of the year, will be held for the first time at Memorial Park Golf Course, located in the suburbs of Houston, Texas, USA, from April 23-26, 2026. The tournament will be played over four rounds of 72 holes of stroke play, with 132 golfers competing. Mao Saiko, the Japanese professio nal golfer and last year's champion, will return to defend her title. This week, nine Thai golfers are competing: Atthaya Thitikul ("Gino"), Ariya Jutanugarn ("May"), Pajaree Anannarukan ("Myo"), Chanettee Wannasen ("Praw"), Papangkorn Dhawatchanakit ("Patty"), Jasmine Suwannapura, Pornanong Phetlame ("Waen"), Moriya Jutanugarn ("Mo"), and Suvichaya Winichaitham ("Hut"). The latest update reveals that "Gino" Atthaya Thitikul, the world number one and eight-time LPGA champion, will be playing in this tournament for the sixth time. Her past performances include a tie for 30th place in 2018 and a tie for 4th place in 2023. Her best major performance was a second-place finish at the Evian Championship last year. This year, she has two top-ten finishes, including the Honda LPGA Thailand championship. "May" Ariya Jutanugarn, former world number one and winner of 12 LPGA titles including two majors, will be playing in her 14th LPGA Tour. Her best major wins were at the Women's Open in 2016 and the US Women's Open in 2018. This year, she has played in four tournaments, finishing tied 8th at the Honda LPGA Thailand and tied 18th at the HSBC Women's World Championship. "Meow" Pajaree Anannarukan, a two-time LPGA champion, will be playing in her seventh tournament. Her best major finishes are two top-10 finishes in 2024. This year, she has played in six tournaments, with her best finish being a tie for 17th at the Aramco Championship. "Praw" Chanettee Wannasen, a two-time LPGA champion, will be playing in this tournament for the third time. Her best major finish was tied for 2nd at the Women's PGA Championship in 2025. This year, she has played in six tournaments, with her best finish being tied for 17th at the Tournament of Champions. "Patty" Papangkorn Dhawatchanakit, a two-time LPGA professional champion, including the winner of this major tournament in 2021, will be playing for the ninth time. Her performance on the tour this year includes playing in five tournaments, finishing tied for 5th at the LA Championship l ast week.
