Senate Committee on Entertainment Venues to Invite Cabinet for Law Explanation

Bangkok: Dr. Weeraphan Suwannammai, serving as the chairman of the Senate's entertainment venue study committee, announced that the Senate is preparing to invite the cabinet to explain the content of a law concerning the establishment of a full-service entertainment complex. He emphasized that the formation of the committee is not intended as a political negotiation tool, but rather to prioritize the country's benefits. However, he noted that the passage of the law is not guaranteed.

According to Thai News Agency, the initial meeting of the Senate's committee led to the election of Dr. Weeraphan as the committee chairman. Following the meeting, Dr. Weeraphan outlined the committee's working guidelines, highlighting the need to engage with the law's drafters to understand the origins, advantages, and potential disadvantages of the bill. The committee plans to invite the cabinet for discussions, without involving political parties at this stage.

Dr. Weeraphan also addressed concerns about the lengthy process of allocating committee positions, explaining that discussions were held on the framework of work. The committee is considering whether to establish a subcommittee to expedite the study process, with meetings scheduled weekly on Thursdays.

Addressing speculations that the committee serves as a political bargaining tool, Dr. Weeraphan refuted these claims, stating that the committee's focus is on national, social, and economic interests, rather than political matters. He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the committee operates neutrally and for the country's benefit.

Regarding the swift consideration of the law by the Senate, Dr. Weeraphan maintained that no guarantees could be made at this stage. He stressed the importance of listening to all committee members' opinions with an open mind, assuring that the team remains neutral and committed to the country's interests over political gains.
