Suphannahong Eggs Certification Introduced to Elevate Thai Chicken Egg Safety Standards

Bangkok: The Department of Livestock Development has launched the "Suphannahong" eggs, setting a new benchmark for Thai chicken eggs that are safe for raw consumption and can be traced back to their origin with precision.

According to Thai News Agency, the "Suphannahong" (Golden Swan) mark has been introduced to ensure the safety and quality of Thai chicken eggs, making them free from Salmonella and guaranteeing they are fresh, clean, and safe for consumption even in raw form. Utilizing advanced egg labeling technology, each egg can be traced back to its farm of origin, building consumer confidence and enhancing the international potential of Thai livestock products. The certification was unveiled at the "Building Confidence in Agricultural Products and Food" project launch, held at the Eastin Grand Hotel, Phaya Thai, Bangkok, with Dr. Somchuan Ratnamangklanon, Director-General of the Department of Livestock Development, presiding over the ceremony. The event attracted representatives from the government, private sector, farmers, and entrepreneurs, and featured an exhibition on safe egg production, an academic seminar, and cooking demonstrations.

Dr. Somchuan Ratnamangklanont explained that the department continuously strives to improve the standards of Thai livestock products. The introduction of the "Suphannahong" certification mark for chicken eggs establishes a new safety standard, focusing on eliminating pathogens like Salmonella at the source. The certified eggs, meeting stringent safety criteria, are suitable for both raw and lightly cooked consumption. The labeling technology aids in a comprehensive traceability system, allowing consumers to verify the egg's origin on an "egg-by-egg" basis, ensuring quality control throughout the production chain. This spans from breeding farms and hatcheries to certified retail outlets nationwide.

The launch event not only marked the official introduction of the "Suphannahong" logo but also included academic seminars on egg standards, traceability, and food safety. An exhibition highlighted the entire egg production process, including farm management, egg coding technology, and certification procedures. Cooking demonstrations were also held to educate attendees about egg product standards.

The Department of Livestock Development plans to collaborate with farmers, entrepreneurs, and relevant agencies to produce high-quality, standardized livestock products with systematic traceability. The "Suphannahong" certification mark is a pivotal strategy in raising Thai livestock standards, reflecting the department's dedication to using digital technology to enhance traceability in the production chain, thereby boosting consumer confidence and adding value to the Thai chicken egg industry for sustainable growth in high-standard markets.
