Pichai’ accepts the Prime Minister’s proposal to continue the proposal of the Federation of Thai Industries to solve problems systematically and urgently, including the problem of low-quality imported goods, accelerate FTA negotiations, facilitate entrepreneurs with digital technology, and close down the horse companies that link horse accounts.
Mr. Pichai Naripthaphan, Minister of Commerce, revealed that from yesterday’s discussion between Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister and the Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry, and Banking (JSCCIB) to receive a white paper with proposals for solving the country’s economic problems, it is considered a good proposal that allows the government and the Ministry of Commerce to receive many useful proposals. For the Ministry of Commerce, the Prime Minister ordered the urgent resolution of 4 issues, including issues that have already been implemented since he took office and issues that he has ordered relevant agencies to urgently proceed with, including
resolving the issue of low-quality imported products, accelerating negotiations on free trade agreements (FTAs) with various countries, facilitating entrepreneurs with 100% digital technology, and closing the accounts of mule companies linked to mule accounts.
Regarding the closure of the horse company accounts linked to the horse accounts, the Minister of Commerce said that he has ordered the Department of Business Development to discuss with the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, and has been informed that an appointment has been made for Thursday, October 31. Initially, the Department of Business Development will delay the registration of legal entities for individuals on the risk list. There will be stricter measures to accept registrations, such as requiring individuals who are suspects according to the AMLO’s HR 03 list to present themselves before the registrar. The AMLO has identified HR 30 as individuals at high risk for money laundering, financing t
errorism, and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in cases where individuals are involved in the commission of basic crimes or are owners of bank accounts used in the commission of basic crimes, code HR-03.
‘The Prime Minister is concerned to expedite all matters according to the proposals of the FTI. Regarding the problem of substandard imported goods and illegal foreign businesses, the ‘Administration Committee for Managing the Problem of Foreign Products and Businesses that Violate the Law’ has been appointed to pull together all relevant agencies to expedite measures to solve the problem to see tangible results as soon as possible. The goal is to have clear progress within 3 months, and the first meeting will be held tomorrow (October 30) to follow up on the progress and consider related measures,’ the Minister of Commerce stated.
Mr. Pichai said that the Ministry of Commerce has also accelerated FTA negotiations with new countries and hastened the conclusion of pending negotiations to help att
ract investment and utilize export-import benefits. The FTA negotiations that are close to being finalized include Thailand and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), which has four member countries: Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland. If the negotiations are successful this year, Thailand will be the first country in ASEAN to make an FTA with EFTA. In addition, other FTAs ??are being pushed, such as those with the European Union (EU), Pakistan, Bhutan, the UAE, and India. As a result, this government expects to conclude several more negotiations, totaling more than 10 countries, from Thailand’s current 15 FTAs ??with only 18 countries, which will allow Thailand to grow exponentially.
In terms of facilitating entrepreneurs, Mr. Pichai said that he has kicked off the ‘OCS Connect’ standard export service system with 100% digital technology since the first week of assuming the position. The system covers services from issuing registration/licenses, inspecting product standards, to issuing pro
duct standard certificates for export customs procedures through the National Single Window (NSW) system, which is easy, convenient, fast, and complete on a single platform. Entrepreneurs do not have to waste time and travel expenses to contact because there is a link between relevant government agencies to reduce duplicate documents, unnecessary steps, and support electronic fee payments in the form of e-Payment immediately. -511-Thai News Agency
