Bangkok: Police are preparing to question additional officers connected to the train-motorcycle collision at a railway crossing in the Lat Krabang area, which resulted in the death of a 21-year-old woman.
According to Thai News Agency, the tragic incident involved a young vocational graduate who was struck by a train while riding her motorcycle home to eat sukiyaki with her mother. The train driver, who has tested negative for alcohol and drugs, is set to undergo further questioning.
The collision occurred near Wat Sangkharacha on the parallel road to the motorway in Soi Lad Krabang 3, Intersection 4, in Bangkok's Lat Krabang District. The victim's aunt disclosed that the woman, who had recently graduated with a vocational diploma, was taking a shortcut home from work-a route she seldom used-when the accident happened.
The family confirmed that the motorcycle was in standard condition, without any racing modifications or lowered suspension. The bike, approximately 4-5 years old, was routinely used by their brother-in-law, a delivery rider. A three-night funeral service is planned, with the first night of prayers already conducted, leading to the cremation.
In terms of the investigation, the superintendent of Lat Krabang Police Station reported that initial questioning of the train driver took place at Bangkok Central Station. The driver recounted seeing the motorcycle emerge suddenly from the crossing, leaving no time to brake. Tests confirmed the absence of alcohol or drugs in his system. Both the train driver and the legal team from the State Railway of Thailand are expected to provide more comprehensive statements to the investigators.
The State Railway of Thailand is preparing to send representatives to file a police report, exercising their rights and authority, as the accident site falls under their jurisdiction.
