Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, expressed his intentions to announce a policy on September 29th to advance the 2025 budget and the "Half-Half" project. He emphasized the importance of collaboration and urged politicians to support the initiative, dismissing any attempts to halt the project as futile.
According to Thai News Agency, Anutin highlighted the urgency of presenting the policy statement to Parliament by the stipulated date of September 29, 2025. With a limited timeframe of four months for governmental operations, he underscored the need to expedite efforts to avoid potential budgetary delays. Anutin affirmed that any measures beneficial to the nation would be prioritized. He stressed that if the budget is not promptly addressed, it could be forfeited, necessitating reliance on the regular budget. The regular budget is critical for the continuation of the half-and-half policy, and Anutin warned against political maneuvers that could jeopardize the project's progress.
Anutin confidently stated that the project would not falter, as preparations for an alternative budget are already underway. He mentioned that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Ekniti Nitithanpraphas, along with Permanent Secretary of Finance, Lawaron Sangsanit, are committed to ensuring the public benefits from the initiative. Their efforts aim to stimulate the economy and address the livelihood challenges faced by citizens. Anutin acknowledged the collective contributions of all parliament members, regardless of political affiliation, in recognizing and tackling the hardships experienced by the populace. When inquired about the remaining economic stimulus budget of 25 billion baht from 2015, Anutin deferred to Mr. Ekniti for further details.
