Nam yuen: The situation at the border in Nam Yuen district remains calm following an incident where Cambodia reportedly fired a mortar round into the 469 Chong Bok observation post. Despite the previous day's events, residents of Ubon Ratchathani are skeptical of Mali's statement attributing the explosion to burning garbage.
According to Thai News Agency, reporters have assessed the situation and visited local communities in Nam Yuen District, Ubon Ratchathani Province, after the mortar incident occurred at the Hill 469 observation post. As of this morning, the area has remained peaceful, with no additional clashes or gunfire reported. However, villagers are on alert and ready to evacuate if they receive official warnings from government authorities.
A local resident, Ms. Ruttayarat, 30, expressed her concerns, stating that she learned about the mortar shell incident through social media. She noted that she has not witnessed any unusual activities or heard further explosions. Ms. Ruttayarat found the Cambodian spokesperson's claim that the explosion resulted from burning trash to be implausible, doubting that such precise targeting could occur accidentally. She fears this incident might escalate into further conflict and urges military intervention to resolve the tensions, hoping for a return to normalcy for the villagers.
