Deputy Prime Minister Pipat Visits Site of Pattani Gas Station Explosion, Promises Full Compensation

Pattani: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, inspected the scene of a recent arson and bombing at a gas station in Pattani, affirming that the government will ensure 100% compensation for those affected and is open to negotiations with individuals holding different ideologies. He emphasized that the Anutin government seeks peace and is open-minded.

According to Thai News Agency, Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, who also serves as the Chairman of the Emergency Situation Management Committee and Vice Chairman of the National Security Council, visited the PTT Bana gas station in Mueang Pattani district alongside Pattani Governor Patima Sadiyamu. The site was one of multiple locations targeted in attacks across the three southern border provinces on the night of January 10th.

Upon arrival, Pol. Maj. Gen. Santhas Chueaputtan, Commander of the Pattani Provincial Police, provided a briefing on the incident and engaged with the business owners impacted by the attack.

In an interview following the visit, Pipat expressed relief that no individuals were harmed in the PTT Bang Na explosion, though the gas station suffered extensive damage. Authorities are currently gathering evidence with the aim of identifying and apprehending those responsible for the attack.

Pipat assured that both provincial authorities and the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center (SBPAC) will fully compensate the victims, encouraging them to remain resilient. He expressed a preference for dialogue over condemnation, urging those responsible to engage in negotiations with the government to address and resolve the issues.

Pipat highlighted the open stance of the government, encouraging individuals with differing views to reach out for discussions. He emphasized the commitment of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who is also the Minister of Interior, and himself to engage with all parties in pursuit of peace.

Furthermore, Pipat underscored the importance of negotiation to achieve a resolution that aligns with the objectives of all involved factions. He noted that maintaining peace and order is crucial for economic improvement and the development of the southern border region.
