NACC Observes Alleged Overcharging by Ice Hockey Association

Bangkok: The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) observed the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) filing a complaint against the Ice Hockey Association regarding alleged inflated budget claims.

According to Thai News Agency, the Secretary-General of the NACC, Mr. Phumivisan Kasemsuk, along with Pol. Lt. Col. Siripong Sritula, Deputy Secretary-General of the NACC, Ms. Oranich Sukbal, Director of the Public Sector Corruption Suppression Division 2, and other officials, were present as Dr. Kongsak Yodmani, Governor of the SAT, lodged the complaint. The complaint accuses the Ice Hockey Association of Thailand of overcharging for the rental of ice hockey fields for training and the 33rd SEA Games. The filing took place at the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) headquarters on Phaholyothin Road, Chom Phon Subdistrict, Chatuchak District, Bangkok.

The complaint arose from a report received by the NACC from the owner of the Thailand International Ice Hockey Arena (TIIHA) located in the Huai Khwang district of Bangkok. It concerns inflated rental fee claims by the Ice Hockey Association for the same events. Following receipt of the report, the NACC conducted an on-site investigation, where they gathered information from affected parties and verified facts with relevant agencies. The investigation uncovered that the Association allegedly created forged documents in a company's name to claim excessive funds from the SAT. Consequently, charges have been filed on three counts: forgery of documents, providing false information, and fraud.
