Narucha Contemplates Legal Action Against Phumtham and Interior Ministry Officials

Bangkok: Narucha is considering consulting her legal team to sue Phumtham and the Permanent Secretary of the Interior. Narucha is considering consulting her legal team to sue Phumtham and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior after the Civil Service Commission ruled that his transfer order was unlawful.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Narucha Khosasilvilai, Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration and former Director-General of the Department of Local Administration Promotion, stated that regarding the Civil Service Ethics Committee's (CSEC) majority decision that the transfer of him to the position of Inspector-General of the Ministry of Interior by then-Minister of Interior, Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Mr. Arsit Sampanrat, was unlawful, he only learned of the decision from the media. He considered it unfair that the CSEC's decision was so slow. He noted that there had been back-and-forth correspondence, with several requests for extensions to clarify the facts, ultimately forcing him to personally write a letter requesting an update on the decision. He added that he would now have to examine whether the discretionary decisions made in his transfer were proper or improper, and whether they were justified.

Mr. Narucha stated that this case will set a precedent for superiors and civil servants who have authority but do not comply with regulations and laws, reminding them that the exercise of power must be coupled with morality. Regarding Mr. Chaiwat Junthirapong, secretary to the Minister of Interior and former Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration, legal action will be taken against him, and he agrees with that.
