Bangkok: Ms. Supamas Isarabhakdi, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, presided over the merit-making ceremony for the 89th birthday of Somdej Phra Maha Thira-chan, the Chief Abbot of the Northern Region and Abbot of Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimon Mangkalaram Ratchaworamahawihan. The event took place at the main chapel of Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimon Mangkalaram Ratchaworamahawihan, located on Sanam Chai Road in the Phra Nakhon District.
According to Thai News Agency, the ceremony was attended by Ms. Yupapha Thawiwattanakitbaworn, Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office, along with close disciples and devotees of Somdej Phra Maha Thira-chan. The event marked a significant celebration of His Majesty's longevity.
The day's events began in the morning with Somdej Phra Maha Thira-chan presiding over the offering of breakfast and alms to monks and novices within the temple grounds. This was followed by a merit-making ceremony honoring the late King, as well as a ceremony dedicating merit to former abbots and ancestors. The celebrations culminated in a ceremony celebrating Somdej Phra Maha Thira-chan's 89th birthday.
