Government Cracks Down on Drugs: 20,000 People Arrested, 100 Million Methamphetamine Pills Seized in One Month

Bangkok: The government revealed that a proactive crackdown on drug trafficking networks between April 28 and May 29, 2026, dismantled over 1,611 networks, seized 128 million methamphetamine pills and over 9 tons of crystal meth, and confiscated assets worth over 631 million baht.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Ploytalay Laksmisangchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that in accordance with the government's policy and the instructions of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, relevant agencies have been instructed to monitor the situation and expedite the results of drug suppression operations nationwide. The emphasis was also placed on intensifying proactive measures to decisively dismantle the structure and networks of drug traffickers.

Ms. Ploytalay stated that the government, through the Royal Thai Police, integrated cooperation with relevant agencies to respond to policy directives and carry out nationwide raids on drug networks between April 28 and May 29, 2026. This resulted in the arrest of 19,362 drug cases, the apprehension of 19,406 suspects, and the execution of 664 outstanding arrest warrants. Seized items included 128 million methamphetamine pills, 9,225 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, 434 kilograms of ketamine, 140 kilograms of heroin, 3,650 ecstasy pills, 322 firearms, and one explosive device. Additionally, 4 million baht in cash was seized, and assets related to the offenses were frozen, totaling over 631 million baht.
