Bangkok: Mallika Boonmeetrakul Mahasuk, candidate number 14 for Bangkok Governor, has unveiled a comprehensive policy aimed at addressing the city's persistent flooding issues through the creation of underground water reservoirs. Before launching her campaign, Mallika paid respects at significant spiritual sites including the City Pillar Shrine, the Emerald Buddha, and Phra Siam Thewathirat, emphasizing the importance of stability and morale in governance.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Mallika highlighted the importance of integrating spiritual stability with practical governance to ensure the security and well-being of Bangkok's citizens. She emphasized the dual responsibility of the Bangkok Governor to uphold both administrative duties and the security of the city under the National Security Act, advocating for a leadership approach that balances belief with effective management.
Mallika's strategic measures to combat flooding include implementing advanced early warning systems and deploying AI X-band radar technology to automate floodgate operations. She plans to collaborate with relevant authorities to enhance flood preparedness and response. A key component of her proposal is the creation of underground water reservoirs, a method previously utilized by former Governor Aswin. This strategy not only aims to manage water on a city-wide scale but also encourages citizens to contribute by constructing small-scale underground storage solutions in their homes.
'If there are positive aspects from previous governors, we will retain, build upon, and utilize them,' Mallika stated. Her campaign promises to embrace effective past practices while introducing innovative reforms to improve the quality of life for Bangkok's residents.
