Hat yai: The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has initiated the "Big Cleaning, Restore Happiness" mission aimed at rejuvenating disaster-stricken areas in Songkhla Province following the receding of floodwaters. The effort is a collaborative initiative led by the Ministry to bring back a sense of normalcy and safety to the affected residents.
According to Thai News Agency, the Forward Operations Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment held a ceremony at Hat Yai Technical College in Songkhla Province to officially kick off the Big Cleaning mission. The event saw participation from key figures such as Mr. Wira Khunchairak, Deputy Director-General of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, along with other executives from related departments including the Royal Forest Department and the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR).
The operation involves 780 personnel, with contributions from various departments: 600 from the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, 100 from the Royal Forest Department, 50 from the DMCR, and 30 from the Pollution Control Department. The mission is supported by a fleet of 88 vehicles, including pickup trucks, dump trucks, and water trucks, as well as over 4,000 pieces of cleaning equipment.
The focus of the mission is to clean and rehabilitate key areas, such as Thesaban 3 Sophonpittayanusorn School and Wat Hong Pradittharam (Wat Kho Hong), by removing trash and debris to restore public spaces to their normal conditions. This initiative underscores the Ministry's dedication to public welfare and safety, emphasizing its role as a source of support for the community. The mission will continue until the situation in Songkhla returns to normal.
