Mongkol Surassajja Addresses Senate’s Role Amid Political Tensions

Bangkok: “Mongkol” keeps his mouth shut about giving his opinion on the political situation and collusion with the Senate. Mongkol Surassajja, President of the Senate, insists he is not worried about himself, but is still in the position and must perform his duties for the benefit of the country.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Mongkol Surassajja provided insights into the Senate’s involvement regarding the Thai-Cambodian border issue. He mentioned that the Senate Committee on Military and Security plans to request a meeting to hold a general debate on the matter. Once submitted, it will be forwarded to the government to schedule a joint meeting during the regular session in July. Mongkol emphasized that the current border situation is primarily a concern for the government and security forces, while the Senate’s role is to express opinions. When questioned about political conflicts among coalition parties amidst economic challenges, Mr. Mongkol refrained from commenting on the political situation but stressed the importance of collective efforts to alleviate the people’s problems. He urged individuals to contribute to resolving the issues.

Addressing allegations of collusion involving senators and the Bhumjaithai Party, Mr. Mongkol stated that the issue is under investigation and not open for discussion. He highlighted his commitment to serving the country and addressing the challenges faced by various professions, particularly farmers.

Mr. Mongkol expressed confidence in fulfilling his duties as a senator, regardless of his position.
