Krabi: Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul led Buddhist devotees in a merit-making ceremony at Wat Tham Sua (Tiger Cave Temple) in Krabi province, aiming to preserve Buddhism while simultaneously creating sustainable income for the local people.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul presided over the event at Wat Tham Sua in Krabi Noi Subdistrict, Mueang Krabi District, to raise funds for the renovation and construction of Buddhist structures within the temple. The ceremony was attended by prominent figures including Mrs. Thanon Charnvirakul, Chairperson of the Cabinet Spouses Association; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Pipat Ratchakitprakarn; Deputy Minister of Interior Worasit Liengprasit; and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior Arsit Sampanrat, among others. The total donations collected from all sectors amounted to 8,101,818.99 baht.
On this occasion, governors from various provinces such as Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, and others participated alongside civil servants, military personnel, police officers, and local community members, totaling over 2,000 attendees. The event featured a performance of Krabi folk dance and was highlighted by a Buddhist chanting ceremony and the offering of robes to monks.
The initiative sought to promote Wat Tham Sua, a significant religious site in Southern Thailand, as a hub for religious ceremonies and Buddhist tourism. This effort aligns with government policies to foster stable and sustainable employment opportunities for local residents. During the event, Phra Thep Wachirakorn blessed the Prime Minister and the Minister of Interior, wishing them success in their tenure.
The Ministry of Interior, through the Krabi Provincial Damrongtham Center, provided various services to the public during the event, such as handling complaints, ensuring access to essential utilities, and maintaining public safety.
