Severe Flooding Engulfs La-ngu District and Pattani Municipality

Satun: Follow the flood situation in the southern region. La-ngu District, Satun Province, is the worst in 50 years. In Pattani Municipality, the water mass has expanded and flooded all roads.

According to Thai News Agency, flooding in Satun Province is becoming increasingly severe, particularly in La-ngu District, which is experiencing the worst flooding in 50 years. Water from Nam Phut Subdistrict has inundated Ban Da Lam School, forcing village defense volunteers, Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO), and teachers to scramble to move their belongings to escape the second wave of flooding. The economic district in Kamphaeng Subdistrict Municipality is also experiencing rapid flooding. Municipal offices, temples, banks, police stations, shops, and residents are frantically moving their belongings. Water levels at the Mahachan Intersection are waist-high, turning La-ngu District into a sea, requiring boats to replace vehicles. In other districts, at least 15 schools and educational institutions have closed. As the rain continues to fall, the province is mobilizing flat-bottomed boats to provide assistance.

In Pattani Province, flooding is also not being able to stop. Flooding has spread widely, reaching all 12 districts, with the municipality being the hardest hit. All roads are flooded. Meanwhile, heavy rain has continued throughout the night until this morning, with no signs of stopping. In addition, the sea water is rising.

Regarding the flooding situation in Pattani Municipality, water has now spread to all roads within the municipality, blocking access for all vehicles. Water levels in the economic zone continue to rise and have already flooded shops. Floodwaters have also inundated markets within Pattani Municipality, forcing some vendors to sell their goods underwater and forcing others to close due to the inability to do so. Despite Pattani Municipality's efforts to mobilize personnel to pump water from roads into the Pattani River 24/7, the situation has been insufficient due to heavy, continuous rain falling throughout the day for several days. The resulting rainfall has become too much to handle. If the rain continues, flooding is expected to rise even higher and spread further.
