Chiang mai: The Social Security Office has confirmed its commitment to assist employees who suffer accidents, ensuring they receive their entitled benefits. This follows an incident involving an employee who fell from a height in Chiang Mai province.
According to Thai News Agency, the Social Security Office clarified the situation involving an employee who was seriously injured in a fall in Chiang Mai. The office is expediting assistance based on the employee's rights and conducting an on-site investigation to verify the facts of the incident.
Ms. Kanjana Poolkaew, Secretary-General of the Social Security Office, addressed the news report dated May 31, 2026, which highlighted a complaint from the Lawyers' Foundation. The complaint concerned allegations that the injured employee's employer did not provide assistance and that government agencies failed to intervene. Ms. Kanjana emphasized that the Social Security Office has been actively providing assistance to the insured person according to their entitled rights.
Ms. Kanjana further detailed that the insured, Mr. Sarungkar Kanthayot, along with his relatives, have met with Social Security Office officials to discuss their statements and acknowledge their related benefits. Mr. Kanthayot is set to receive an initial income replacement of 14,000 baht via the PromptPay system by June 10, 2026, with continued payments at the end of each month until the full entitlement is reached by July 31, 2026.
On June 1, 2026, the Chiang Mai Provincial Social Security Office, working with the Chiang Mai Provincial Labor Protection and Welfare Office, conducted an on-site inspection of the incident location. They gathered information from the employer, employees, and contractors to consider benefits and relevant legal actions. Additionally, officials visited the insured individuals at their homes to offer support, explain the benefits, and provide encouragement to them and their families.
The Secretary-General underscored the office's commitment to protecting the rights of all insured persons, particularly through the Workers' Compensation Fund, which safeguards employees who suffer work-related accidents. The Social Security Office remains vigilant in monitoring and facilitating access to legal benefits to ensure that insured persons and their families receive appropriate, timely, and fair care.
