Phetchaburi: Stamford International University recently held a forum at its Phetchaburi Campus to commemorate International Women's Day 2026. The event offered a platform for discussions on the role of women in global leadership and diplomacy in a changing world. Police Lieutenant Colonel Phopchanok Chalanukroh, the Governor of Phetchaburi Province, delivered the opening remarks, while Dr. Apithep Saekow, Acting President of the university, welcomed the ambassadors and over 200 attendees, including university administrators, faculty, students, and government officials.
According to Thai News Agency, a significant highlight of the event was the international panel discussion on 'Women in Diplomacy and Global Leadership in a Changing World.' The panel featured female ambassadors to Thailand, including HE Mrs. Edirisinghe Arachchilage Sriyani Wijayanthi Edirisinghe of Sri Lanka, HE Mrs. Shirley Dennise Aguilar Barrera of Guatemala, HE Mrs. Daniela Br®ndu?a Bazavan of Romania, and HE Ms. Szilvia Szal³ki of Hungary. They shared their experiences and perspectives on leadership and the role of women in international diplomacy.
Participants discussed the challenges female leaders face globally and the importance of international cooperation in a globalized era. The event also allowed students and attendees to engage with the ambassadors directly. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bampen Maitrisophon presented the tourism potential of communities in Phetchaburi Province, accompanied by a performance showcasing local arts and culture, emphasizing the traditional Thai Black culture.
In the afternoon, delegates planned a visit to Maruekthayawan Royal Palace, a historical site, to explore Thailand's history and cultural values. The event demonstrated Stamford International University's dedication to advancing women's roles in international leadership and diplomacy, providing inspiration and insight into international relations for students and attendees.
