Thaksin Denies Plans to Push Bhumjaithai into Opposition, Leaves Cabinet Reshuffle to Prime Minister

Bangkok: Thaksin Shinawatra, the former Prime Minister, has publicly stated that he has no plans to move the Bhumjaithai Party into the opposition, emphasizing that any potential cabinet reshuffle is the prerogative of the Prime Minister. Thaksin mentioned that if changes are deemed necessary, they would likely be extensive, but he has not given thought to bringing new members in or removing current ones, acknowledging the complexity of political alliances.

According to Thai News Agency, Thaksin explained that decisions regarding the cabinet reshuffle rest solely with the Prime Minister, who must consider both political and administrative factors. Thaksin emphasized the need for collaboration with the Prime Minister should any obstacles arise, as the final decision on the cabinet rests in the Prime Minister's hands.

When queried about the possibility of the Pheu Thai Party initiating changes, Thaksin remarked that if changes are to occur, they should be comprehensive. He dismissed any notions of relegating Bhumjaithai to the opposition, asserting that the idea had never crossed his mind.

Addressing speculation about political maneuvering, Thaksin noted the presence of many political factions, each with its own perspectives, which could lead to misunderstandings. Regarding rumors of the Palang Pracharath Party joining the government, Thaksin acknowledged discussions but indicated that the current political configuration is likely satisfactory, though adjustments to positions might still happen.

Thaksin also responded to questions about the potential inclusion of members from the Palang Pracharath Party, colloquially referred to as "cobras," by stating that he was not involved in such discussions and expressed confidence in the stability of the current government, which he described as having strong support.
