Pheu Thai Party Addresses Fishing Issues at Mahachai Market

According to Thai News Agency, the Pheu Thai Party, accompanied by parliamentary candidates from Samut Sakhon and neighboring provinces like Samut Songkhram and Chumphon, visited the area to address the concerns of the fishing community. This issue is vital for their livelihoods and well-being.

Following a discussion with fishing industry entrepreneurs, Mr. Yotsanu Wongsawat, the Pheu Thai Party's prime ministerial candidate, campaigned at Mahachai market with party leaders and parliamentary candidates. In a media interview, he emphasized the party's commitment to systematic long-term solutions for both domestic and international fishing.

After visiting Mahachai market, reporters questioned Mr. Yotchanan about the warm reception he received, where locals presented him with marigold garlands. He acknowledged this gesture and reiterated the significance of addressing the fishing community's struggles.

Mr. Yotsanan highlighted the need for sustainable support for the fisheries sector, which includes enhancing relevant laws, conducting fisheries research, and managing resources in line with international standards. The party is dedicated to restoring Thailand's marine environment.

The Pheu Thai Party aims to transform Thailand into a high-income nation, necessitating integrated policies across economics, agriculture, finance, and environmental management. Mr. Yotsanan assured that fishermen facing challenges would not be overlooked.

When asked about overseeing the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Yotsanu noted that while specific roles were yet to be determined, he would prioritize the Ministry of Agriculture if elected. He plans to identify a "key person" to oversee the fisheries sector for effective policy implementation.

Mr. Yotsanan also discussed the Pheu Thai Party's strengths, highlighting its experienced personnel in fisheries, environment, and management, along with academics and young individuals. This team would tackle structural issues in Samut Sakhon, including tidal surges, flooding, traffic, pollution, and seafood imports, to balance the economy and marine conservation.

He addressed foreign media questions about his political direction, emphasizing the party's readiness to implement policies if elected. He highlighted the combination of experienced personnel and younger members to address complex issues like geopolitics and climate change.

Regarding his aspirations for the Prime Minister role, Mr. Yotsanu indicated his commitment to addressing the country's challenges. Drawing from his academic and policy-making experience, he aims to propel Thailand towards high-income status and foster cooperation domestically and internationally.
