Shadow Cabinet Proposes Solutions to Address Train-Bus Collision

Bangkok: The Shadow Cabinet has put forward three measures to the government aimed at addressing the recent train-bus collision incident, which resulted in numerous injuries and fatalities. These proposals include stricter traffic regulations for drivers, a thorough investigation of the cause through a special committee, and expediting the implementation of the missing link system to resolve issues at railway crossings.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Nattapong Ruangpanyawut, a party-list MP and leader of the People's Party, announced these recommendations following the Shadow Cabinet meeting. He emphasized the party's commitment to using all available mechanisms to investigate the incident and provide constructive recommendations to the government. The People's Party intends to bring this matter before the House Transportation Committee on May 20th.

The Shadow Cabinet's proposals consist of three key points: enforcing stricter traffic discipline and road usage regulations for all drivers, conducting a thorough investigation into the causes of accidents through the Rail Transport Accident Investigation Committee, and speeding up the implementation of the Missing Link project. The Missing Link project, approved in 2016, is designed to address the issue of railway crossings on road surfaces.
