Cabinet Cancels 60-Day Visa-Free Policy, Reverts to Previous Criteria

Bangkok: The Cabinet has announced the cancellation of the "60-day visa-free" policy, reverting to previous visa criteria. Surasak, Minister of Tourism, stated that this decision was made during a Cabinet meeting, where it was resolved that the Visa Committee would review new visa criteria before submitting them to the government.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Surasak Panjaroenvorakul, Minister of Tourism and Sports, disclosed that the Cabinet decided to revoke the 60-day visa-free entry for over 90 countries. Additionally, the visa-free entry program for countries that previously offered more than one type of visa has been canceled. The existing criteria, which typically allow for a 30-day visa, will be reinstated.

The resolution will be communicated to relevant agencies, and the Visa Policy Committee will assess each country individually. This assessment will focus on determining the most appropriate visa type based on factors such as national security and economic considerations. Consequently, countries affected by the lifting of the 60-day visa exemption will revert to their original visa arrangements.
