Ms. Jiraporn Sindhuphrai, Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office, said after inspecting the village fund project that today is the first time that she has visited the village fund’s operations, and today she will visit 2 locations.
Ms. Jiraporn said that this policy has been in place since the Thai Rak Thai Party government, and has been implemented since 2001, with the first capital injection of 1 million baht. Over 20 years have passed, and there have been many government changes, but the village fund policy has remained until today, reflecting the decentralization of power to the people, which is carried out in accordance with democratic principles, allowing the people to think and make decisions for themselves, and respond
ing to the needs of the people in the area as best as possible. Today is a good opportunity to listen to the operations and various obstacles, in order to lead to development and upgrading it to a source of funds, including solving the problem of informal debt, which is an important policy of the government going forward.
As for the village funds in some areas that still have problems, Ms. Jiraporn said that the solution is to use a strong fund model as a model for studying the funds that have problems. A committee will be set up to take care of and help restore the village funds that have problems in their operations, including adding new technologies to facilitate data collection and take care of the people appropriately.
As for whether the village fund policy will be linked to the national soft power policy, Ms. Jiraporn said that the government has many policies. The village fund is the policy that is closest to the people. Therefore, it can be linked to various policies, not just the national soft powe
