At approximately 5:00 p.m., Ms. Jiraporn Sindhuphrai, Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office, visited the Nong Bua Mak District to inspect the area of ??Nong Bua Mak Reservoir, Nong Takai Subdistrict, Nong Bua Mak District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. She was welcomed by Mr. Pichan Tra Phak Waen, Nong Bua Mak District Chief, government officials, and members of the public, including Mr. Athit Wangsuphakikoson, Member of the House of Representatives for Nakhon Ratchasima Province, Constituency 11, and Mr. Aphicha Lertphocharokkamol, Member of the House of Representatives for Nakhon Ratchasima Province, Constituency 10.
Ms. Jiraporn received a report on the water management situation for agriculture in the area from Mr. Phichan Traphakwan, the District Chief of Nong Bun Mak, who stated that Nong Bun Mak District is approximately 54 kilometers from Nakhon Ratchasima Province, covering an area of ??369,000 r
ai, or 2.26 percent of the province, with a total population of over 60,470 people. The main occupation of the people of Nong Bun Mak District is agriculture, such as growing cassava, rice, and sugarcane.
However, Nong Takai Reservoir, which covers an area of ??approximately 297 rai and is used to support water for agricultural purposes of the people in the area of ??Nong Takai Subdistrict Administrative Organization and nearby areas, is currently experiencing a shortage of water for consumption and agriculture. The District Chief of Nong Bun Mak has expressed his intention to request a budget from the Department of Water Resources to carry out a project to construct a solar-powered water distribution system so that people in the area can receive water delivered to agricultural areas through the distribution system without having to pay for pumping water into the area as in the past.
Ms. Jiraporn stated that the government led by Mr. Settha Thavisin prioritizes improving the quality of life of farmers under
a clear agricultural goal that will increase farmers’ net income by 3 times in the next 4 years. This requires supporting the potential of soil, water, plant and animal breeds, markets, capital, technology, and integrated processing. Nakhon Ratchasima Province is another important agricultural area of ??the country.
