The Prime Minister opens the seminar “Korat, the Digital Metropolis of the Future” to promote a paperless society and improve government work.
Mr. Sathit Thaveesin, Prime Minister, presided over the opening of the workshop ‘Digital Korat: The Future Starts now-Korat, the digital metropolis of the future’ at Rajamangala University of Technology Isan, Nong Rawiang Educational Center, Nong Rawiang Subdistrict, Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima District.
As the Prime Minister entered the meeting building, the Korat Red Shirts stood to welcome him and gave him a shirt with Mr. Settha’s picture and the message “Thai Power, Fight Against Drugs” and tied a white towel to the Prime Minister.
Then, the Non Thai Kuruppatham School Orchestra sang the song ‘Korat Welcomes’ to welcome the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister opened the event by saying that we are entering the digital society era. People in society have experienced working and conducting transactions through electronic systems and various information systems that
provide convenience. This is a tangible digital technology and innovation that changes the way we all live. In today’s world, many organizations are rapidly moving technology. In providing services, government agencies and the business sector must adapt and change their work to digital formats in order to be as efficient as possible. Therefore, the government emphasizes the use of technology together with decentralized administration to increase efficiency, improve the work of the government to become a digital government, and enable people to receive services from the government. It also elevates Thailand to become a world-class industrial city and a digital economic center. Therefore, the government emphasizes developing the potential of the people and government personnel to have skills and be able to adapt to digital technology that is constantly changing.
Afterwards, the Prime Minister took a group photo with the students and members of the public who attended the event in a friendly manner, receiving a
lot of screams and expressions of joy at meeting the Prime Minister before he went to view the exhibition.
At one point, the Prime Minister received an oil painting, a portrait of Mr. Settha, and then Thailand Post gave the Prime Minister a collection of Euro football stamps.
The Prime Minister then walked over to greet the students of Rajsima Wittayalai School who were sitting outside the building because the building was full, and took a photo with the Prime Minister, which made the students feel happy.
Before leaving the convention center, a group of small-scale chicken farmers in Korat came to hand over a letter asking the Prime Minister to help take care of farmers in a comprehensive manner, including chicken feed, which is expensive at 600 baht per bag. If the government helps reduce the cost of feed and salt to 300-400 baht, the farmers will be able to survive.
